LiftShift Records

Hosting, security & access

Your environment.
Access shaped around your team.

Give people access to the records and fields their work requires. Run LiftShift Records in your organization’s environment or with an approved partner such as your software vendor.

Discuss security requirements

Record & field access

The same record. Different access.

Record access controls whether someone can open a report. Field access controls which values they can see within it. In the walkthrough, a records clerk sees a masked medical note that a detective can read. The deployment defines its own roles and sign-in.

Permissions that match the work

Define who can do what.

SQL investigation, record corrections and activity review involve different responsibilities from everyday search. Assign access to each task separately.

Hosting & operations

Name the owner.

The customer or an approved partner hosts LiftShift Records. LiftShift does not host the data.

  • Customer hostedRuns in the customer’s own environment, under its IT and security policies.
  • Approved partner hostedRuns in the hosting of an approved partner, the software vendor, alongside the application it provides.

Either way, agree on who owns each of these responsibilities before production.

  2. The hosting environment

Maintain the host and its network access.

  3. Backups and recovery

Own the backup and recovery arrangements.

  4. Updates and support

    Coordinate updates and support requests.
