Source fields, codes and relationships need to be understood. The destination may use a different structure or impose different rules. Mapping and transformation decisions need to be reviewed alongside the records they affect.
Migration explained
Move the information the new system needs.
A data migration transfers selected information from a source system into a destination system, with the mapping, preparation and validation needed for the destination to use it.
The work is more than a file transfer.
Define what the new application needs.
Current cases, ongoing work and historical information used by the new application’s workflows may need to move. Information retained for reference can be assessed separately. Use those needs to decide which records and fields belong in the migration.
Agree on validation and responsibilities.
Identify the source owner, the destination requirements and the customer reviewers. Set out how issues will be investigated and what acceptance means before loading the agreed results.
Migration services, with or without LiftShift Records.
LiftShift prepares selected data for a replacement application and works with the receiving software team on mappings, conversion and validation. Migration can be a standalone service or part of a project that also uses LiftShift Records for retained data.
